Just Breathe

The truth about God is all around us, its just a matter of opening our eyes and ears and paying attention. "Son of man, you live among rebels who have eyes but refuse to see. They have ears but refuse to hear. For they are a rebellious people", Ezekiel 12:2. We know it instinctively, not intelligently. We have instincts that let us know who God is and what He is saying; we have instincts that let us know who God is and what He is showing us. But those instincts only work when we are in tune and awake. When we are present each moment, then God reveals Himself.

Most people are bound up by the world, running through their days getting things done just to get to the end of the day, then wake up to do it all over again the next day. "Run rabbit run, dig that hole, catch the sun. When at last the work is done, don't sit down its time to dig another one", Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon. We have been conditioned to think that if we are not busy, then we are lazy. Think about the last time you asked someone how they were doing, the usual answer is, "busy", and the usual response is, "that's good".

When we do not take the time to slow down to see and hear what God is telling us, it not only affects us, but it also affects everything around us. We are no good to anyone if we are tired, overworked, frustrated, and sick. We cannot help those around us if we cannot even help ourselves. The time is NOW. Our main purpose for "being" isn't to get anything, we are not here to accumulate stuff. We are here to serve each other. Our focus needs to be on our deliverance from false ideas and beliefs that have been programmed inside of us since we were born. We have been programmed to believe that big house, big car, big money are the definition of success. But the reality is, "Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth", Mark 5:5.

When we get dressed up and go out in public and walk among a crowd of people, we look like we have it all together, we look like I have progressed so far on the outside, but our minds still have not caught up to our outside. We may be able to put on a good show that looks like we are so spiritual and so calm, but on the inside we are a mess. Constantly thinking about what our next move will be. Even when it looks like we are helping people, we can be working ourselves to death. Some people think its a sin to be idle, doing nothing, but that's called "being", and that is more important than doing.

In these times there is an overwhelming feeling of trouble coming. It almost feels like we are being pursued, and it is hard to be polite when you feel like you are being pursued. When we allow ourselves to get caught up in this world we can soon find ourselves murmuring and complaining and we become fearful. Even though we know that there is no need to feel this way, when we don't take the time to breathe, it can creep up on us before we know it. So, when we find ourselves feeling that way and thinking that way; when we find ourselves being fearful, stop and take the time to remember that is false thinking. That is not the way for us to think when we put our trust in the Truth. When we focus on Truth, and we put our trust in Truth, then we know that something good is about to happen. And our spirit and our soul get happy.

So, lets get committed to our deliverance from false ideas and beliefs. Even though going through the process of changing these ideas and beliefs is not an easy ride. We will go through trials and tribulations. But, when we go through them and get to the other side, we come out of our experience stronger, wiser, and a lot more useful. Take the time to breathe, then go through changes. When we change our lives, it not only affects us, but also everything around us. We experience freedom. We are set free from the bondage of our schedules, we are set free in our spirit and in our soul. Lets remember that, when God sets us free, we are free indeed.
