The 6th Chakra is called the Third Eye Chakra (also known as the inner eye) or sometimes the “brow Chakra” Ajna (along with Bindu, either or both are considered to correspond to the third eye). The Third Eye Chakra is located in the center of the head behind your eyebrows. It spins extremely fast, and is associated with the colour purple/indigo, however some people even see very dark, almost black eye.
The Third Eye Chakra is linked to the pineal gland. The pineal gland is a light sensitive gland that produces the hormone melatonin which regulates sleep and awakening. This master gland is about the size of a pea, located behind the center of our forehead, between our eyes. It is the main control center that sends messages to all the other glands from its two lobes, the posterior and the anterior. It prompts the proper growth of glands and organs and regulates sexual development.
The third eye is a chakra that is responsible for what we call "second sight". The eye does not even have to be shaped like an eye, although this is the most common shape. Some people see the third eye chakra shaped like a book or a star. It is by the third eye that people see ghosts, auras and other usually non-visible phenomena. This Chakra is related to our ability to perceive clearly. Intuitive perception. The brow chakra is the avenue to wisdom. It allows us to learn from our experiences and putting them in perspective. It’s connected to a person’s ability to think clearly, as well as their sense of imagination, intuition, wisdom, awareness to the world and insight that we all have to some degree. Our mental calculations and thinking processes are functions of the third eye chakra. We are able to evaluate our past experiences and life patterns and put them into perspective through the wisdom of the third chakra's actions. Our ability to separate reality from fantasy or delusion is connected to the healthfulness of this chakra. It is through a receptive brow chakra that auric hues and other visual images are intuited clairvoyantly. So we are now in the realms of the intangible. The sixth chakra is the center of clairvoyance, visions, transcendence of time and space and integrates all the gifts of wisdom from the Spirit to bridge yourself with the Divine. People who have developed this ability to "see" more than most people have a bright shining ball here that protects and draws energy into the brain, which may inform a model of its envisioning. Ajna is held as the chakra of time, awareness and of light. Symbolized by a lotus with two petals.
Here's how to heal this chakra and balance this energy:
Wear the color indigo when trying to heal this energy center.
Imagine an eye opening in the middle of your forehead. Using your fingers pull this eye open by running your fingertips in different directions on your forehead one hand pulling up towards the top of your head, the other pulling down towards your nose. Then pull in opposite directions across your forehead. Using your fingertips, one hand pulling towards the left and the other hand pulling towards the right. Imagine opening up this eye so that you can see better.
Also, remember to follow your intuition. Listen to the little voice in your head that tells you what you need to know. Quit asking others for their opinion about your decisions, you know what is best for you, follow it.
Meditation is another great way to open up the third eye. Being alone with yourself, sitting quietly, allow thoughts to come into your mind, don't try to empty your mind, evaluate these thoughts. Ask yourself, "why am I thinking this?, what does it mean?". Even if you are having thoughts about what you should be doing or what you might make for dinner. If you are trying to meditate and these thoughts are coming to mind, the more you try to get rid of them the more you will think about them. Don't dwell on them, just try to understand why your mind is having a hard time quieting itself. Meditation is a work in progress. Don't try too hard, just relax a little each day, even if its just 15 minutes and soon you will develop your third eye chakra.
Now close your eyes, imagine an indigo colored ball of energy, radiating and circulating around your forehead.
Here are some affirmations to say while your connecting to this energy:
I am knowing , I am psychic, I am intuitive, I am trusting my knowing, I am receiving from and I am trusting my inner voice, my inner vision is strong and clear, I am on my spiritual path, I am perceptive, having strong instinct from my intuitive self and I am listening to my intuitive self, I am guided and supported, I can trust myself, I am a strong being with great insight , I am open and receiving wisdom, knowledge and power.
Keeping your indigo ball of energy in mind, take a deep breath in, breathing in wisdom, knowledge and power from the universe; exhale all the negative energy and tension in your body.
